I know nothing about the airline industry but…

Yesterday I went to aa.com to book a flight to Scotland. Their partner on flights to Britain is British Airways. I tried various day/time combos to find the flight that worked best for me at a reasonable cost. I found one that suited me but my girlfriend suggested going to britishairways.com as well. Britishairways.com offered more flight options. This is not surprising since I assume they give only a certain number of seats via their partners. But I was shocked when I chose the same flights I had chosen on aa.com, and they were nearly $400 LESS on britishairways.com! Like I said, I know nothing about how airline partnerships work. But doesn’t a $400 difference seem like a blatant disregard for the customer? Can’t help but think treating their customers like crap contributed to aa’s recent chapter 11 filing.
